IndiGo and Skyborne have recently celebrated five years since the beginning of their training programme partnership.

The programme began in 2019 and offers students the opportunity to train in Vero Beach, Florida, for twelve months to earn their US FAA 141 Commercial Pilots License with Instrument Rating before returning to India to complete a DCGA licence conversion. The two companies recently signed a five-year contract extension to continue to train A320 First Officers.

“Our partnership with the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program has successfully introduced 168 bright and talented individuals to a flying career, with 137 now professional pilots with IndiGo Airlines,” Lee Woodward, CEO at Skyborne, told LARA. “Fortified by our common goal of offering training to the highest quality and standard, our fifth anniversary is testament to this commitment. We’re proud that our recent contract extension means Skyborne will continue to support IndiGo’s growth for another five years to come.”

Commenting on this, Captain Ashim Mittra, Senior Vice President of Flight Operations at IndiGo, said: “With the unprecedented demand for air travel in India, the extended partnership with Skyborne is valuable. With an academy’s airline-focused approach, international facilities, and an experienced team, Skyborne has proven to be a reliable partner time and again.”

Skyborne has further enhanced its processes by partnering with Symbiotics, a company that provides an in-depth pre-screening process called the ADAPT suite, to reduce assessment day costs for candidates, measuring personality, values, behaviour and attitudes to pre-determine whether a candidate is suitable for the programme.

Hannah Davies, Director, Symbiotics, commented: “We are delighted to partner with Skyborne to support recruitment for their IndiGo training program. Their involvement in the program is testament to the quality of their pilot training, and we’re confident our cutting-edge technology will support Skyborne in the selection and development of its future pilots.”
