HK Express Airways has launched the first direct route from Hong Kong to Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, with flights to operate three times a week.

This marks the airline’s fifth destination, and its third route to the Yangtze River Delta region along with Ningbo in the Zhejiang Province and Changzhou in the Jiangsu Province. Collectively, HK Express and Cathay Pacific, the airline’s codeshare partner, now operate routes to 22 destinations across the Chinese Mainland.

“This launch directly supports the HKSAR government’s new Hong Kong/Zhejiang Co-operation Conference Mechanism,” said Jeanette Mao, CEO of HK Express. “Leveraging Cathay Group’s network strengths, we are reinforcing connectivity between Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, Asia and other global hubs to drive cultural exchange and regional development, especially the interactions and development between Greater Bay Area and Yangtze River Delta. With 24 weekly mainland flights across five cities, we plan to double our mainland destinations this year, offering travellers greater flexibility with more options.”

“HK Express’ Yiwu route unlocks tourism potential while solidifying Hong Kong’s international aviation hub status,” commented Legislative Council Member Perry Yui. “Beyond leisure travel, Yiwu’s significance as a commercial powerhouse will enhance economic exchanges and create new business opportunities. We look forward to HK Express expanding further in Chinese Mainland and Asia, attracting more visitors to Hong Kong and fostering the long-term development of the local travel industry.”
