Blue Air, the largest airline in Romania, and Hitit, a leading airline software solutions provider have announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement.

While global air travel was disrupted, Blue Air took the decision to use this time productively and prepare for the future by overhauling their entire IT ecosystem to be more agile, passenger driven and future-proof. Hitit’s state-of-the-art Crane Airline Suite and vast airline digital transformation expertise proved to be a perfect fit, and the two companies managed to execute a completely remote system migration in record time.

As part of their partnership, Hitit now provides Blue Air with their core passenger service (PSS) and departure control (DCS) systems, a modern internet booking engine (IBE) and mobile application, as well as a variety of supporting solutions such as weight & balance, airline loyalty, customer care, and cost accounting.

Hitit’s Crane Airline Suite will improve Blue Air’s passenger engagement at every touch-point, and enable the airline to match the changing needs of the post-COVID industry with smarter passenger self-service, automated back office operations and the freedom to easily introduce innovative, omnichannel products and services. All of this is supported by Hitit’s purpose-designed airline hybrid cloud infrastructure, providing not only increased security and scalability but also much-needed cost effectiveness.

“Our paths first crossed with Blue Air in T2RL’s bidding process which, after a rigorous bench marking process, led to our initial selection.,” said Nevra Onursal Karaagac, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at Hitit. “Right from the beginning we built a strong partnership relying on mutual cooperation and trust. Thanks to this solid foundation, Hitit has managed to provide Blue Air with an agile and completely remote migration in record time. We’re very happy with our new partnership and excited to see what our common future will bring, and we’ll work very hard to help Blue Air maximize traveler experience and boost revenues. I believe that Blue Air will quickly adapt to the new normal brought by the COVID-19 thanks to our Crane solutions.”

Carsten Schaeffer, CCO at Blue Air said: “Never in modern times have the whole world and the travel industry been hit so hard by a crisis. The industry stopped completely due to lock-downs and travel restrictions, and planes remained grounded. The Blue Air team identified this moment as a turning point for the industry and decided to best equip for the future. After a thorough decision-making process, we chose Hitit as our new IT provider. I am happy to say that our system transformation completed seamlessly and in less than half the time it would normally take during a fully operational period. We have migrated our technical infrastructure and we are now ready for the business restart at the beginning of July with Hitit’s state-of-the-art IT solutions that offer more product, more convenience for customers in booking Blue Air, offer a more comfortable experience during airport processes and truly enhance the communication with our passengers.”
