Swiss carrier Helvetic Airways is to supply up to eight of its new Embraer E190-E2 aircraft to compatriot Swiss International Air Lines on the latter’s European routes from 2019 onwards under a wet lease arrangement.

The companies are expanding their existing partnership, currently entailing four E190s from Helvetic already operating for Swiss on a long-term ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) basis deployed on flights to over 40 European destinations.

Helvetic did add that the eight E190-E2s ‘or similar equipment’ reconfirmed “the high quality of Helvetic Airways’ services and its premium partner credentials. It will also provide greater planning security and ensure the optimum utilisation of the Helvetic Airways fleet.”

Helvetic currently operates a fleet of seven E190 and five Fokker 100 aircraft. The latter will be withdrawn next year and replaced with newer Embraer aircraft, with the brand-new E190-E2s planned to enter service from September 2019 onwards.
