Xen Aviation, a new domestic airline based in Georgetown, Guyana, has purchased its first Britten-Norman BN2T-4S Islander aircraft.
Xen Aviation plans to enhance regional connectivity and provide commuter services across Guyana as the BN2T-4S is able to operate from short, unprepared landing strips, making it suitable for reaching remote areas.
The turboprop BN2T-4S offers a larger capacity than the piston-powered Islander, with 30% more interior space and an increased maximum take-off weight. Powered by twin Rolls-Royce 250 B17F engines, it has a range of over 1,000 nautical miles and can operate for up to 8 hours.
The aircraft is equipped with a modern Garmin glass cockpit and is certified to carry up to 10 passengers. Britten-Norman has also confirmed that the BN2T-4S will soon be compatible with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as part of its environmental commitment.
The acquisition marks the first BN2T-4S Islander to be used for commuter services in Guyana.
Britten-Norman, which is based on the Isle of Wight in the UK, recently secured funding to support increased production of the Islander and development of the company’s aftermarket business.
