Garuda Indonesia has entered into a lease agreement with GECAS for two B737-800 Boeing-converted freighters (BCF).

The P2F-converted aircraft are due to begin operations in mid-2020 and will provide additional capacity to Cargo Garuda Indonesia, the nation’s national carrier’s strategic business unit.

Currently, the carrier uses three B737-300(F) from My Indo Airlines.

Garuda intends to place eight dedicated freighters with resurgent carrier Merpati in 2020 including two ex-Citilink ATR72s and at least one A330 freighter. Together, the jets will be deployed to Indonesia’s Papua province.
