Low-fare airline flynas has made a late order at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024 for a mix of Airbus neo-type aircraft to enhance its overall fleet: 75 A320neo family aircraft and 15 A330neos.

The new aircraft will join the Saudi airline’s all-Airbus fleet and serve international, domestic, and regional routes. The A330-900s will have a two-class configuration and accommodate up to 400 passengers.

The addition of the A330neo widebody will support flynas’s growth plans, offering increased capacity and range, ensuring it can compete in a growing, competitive regional market by combining it with its A320neo fleet.

“The A330neo will allow flynas to further grow into widebody markets by building on the A320, benefiting from Airbus’s unique commonality. Both aircraft types offer flynas the perfect versatility and economics to expand into new markets while offering their passengers the latest cabin experience and comfort,” said Christian Scherer, Airbus’s Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Aircraft.

Bander Almohanna, CEO and Managing Director of flynas, added, “The A320neo family provides exceptional operational performance and environmental benefits, allowing us to offer unique, low-cost travel experiences. Additionally, the A330neo will enhance our long-haul capabilities with its advanced technology and efficiency while supporting our growth plans and Saudi Arabia’s pilgrim program.”

No delivery window was given as part of this order, although Airbus – as with all OEMs currently – has a large backlog of aircraft to fulfil with airlines. It recently reduced its 2024 delivery outlook and production ramp-up on A320neo family aircraft, cutting it from 800 aircraft a year to 770.
