flydubai achieved record performance in 2022, according to the Dubai-based carrier’s annual results for the year ending 31 December 2022.

Highlights of the airline’s annual results included a historic profit of US$ 327 million, an increase of 43% compared to 2021 as well as a total annual revenue of US$ 2.5 billion, 72% more than the previous year. In addition, the airline reported 89% more passengers than in 2021, carrying 10.6 million passengers throughout 2022.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman, flydubai, attributed the airline’s 2022 results to the carrier’s business model, adaptability and agility during challenging times: “flydubai remained committed to maintain the highest levels of cost and operational efficiencies while preserving and growing its workforce over the past two years.

“flydubai’s second consecutive year of profitability since the start of the pandemic is testament to the exceptional contribution of its skilled team and the positive environment we operate in, which is conducive to growth and success,” he said.

The report also stated a record delivery of 17 new aircraft, as well as 1,300 new employees hired, the airline’s biggest recruitment drive in any one year.

Looking ahead to 2023, Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO, flydubai, said: “In 2023, we will continue to invest in new technologies, expand our network and enhance our connectivity through our airline partnerships. To support the growth of the airline, we will continue our ongoing recruitment drive, which will support our growing fleet and network.”
