Low-fare carrier flydubai has unveiled a special commemorative livery as it celebrates 15 years of operations.

The airline has marked a number of milestones since it started in 2009, including expanding its network to 125 destinations in 58 countries, opening over 90 new routes, and operating a single fleet type of 87 Boeing 737 aircraft. It also celebrated transporting over 100 million passengers since it began operations.

Reflecting on its 15-year anniversary, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, said: “flydubai has become a key player in the aviation industry in the UAE and in the region and a major contributor to Dubai’s socio-economic development.

“Looking to the future, I am confident of the further growth and success of the airline in line with the Dubai Government’s efforts to further enhance Dubai’s position as a leading global aviation hub,” he added.

Expanding the seasonal network

The airline has ambitious plans to expand its network to popular destinations. In May 2024, the carrier launched flights to Basel, Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius, and ten summer season destinations across Croatia and the Greek islands.

Commenting on the busy upcoming travel period, Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, commented that they had seen “growing demand” from its summer seasonal routes and looked forward to offering its passengers a “convenient travel experience to explore these beautiful destinations this summer”.
