Lufthansa Technik and Saudi Arabian low-fare carrier flyadeal have signed an exclusive five-year agreement to renew and expand the scope of the former’s Aircraft Production Inspection Program (APIP) for the airline’s new fleet of Airbus aircraft.
The contract, finalised at MRO Middle East in Dubai, covers flyadeal’s incoming fleet of 51 Airbus A320 and 10 Airbus A330neo aircraft, with an additional option for 10 widebodies. Deliveries for these aircraft are due to start in 2027.
Lufthansa Technik will oversee the entire production process for the new aircraft, from sub-assembly inspections to final acceptance. Technical experts will be stationed at Airbus manufacturing sites in Toulouse and Hamburg to monitor quality standards on-site.
The Jeddah-based airline, a subsidiary of the Saudia Group, has used Lufthansa Technik for engineering services since its 2017 launch. The partnership also includes base maintenance for the carrier’s A320 fleet and the use of digital technical operations solutions.
Steven Greenway, flyadeal Chief Executive Officer, said: “Lufthansa Technik has supported flyadeal from the very beginning of our operations, and their expertise has been instrumental to our continued growth. Across all areas of our collaboration, they have delivered solid standards of quality and reliability. As we continue to scale up our fleet, we are pleased to extend this long-standing partnership working with Lufthansa Technik as a trusted partner supporting flyadeal’s ongoing expansion.”
Kai Roepke, Vice President Corporate Sales Europe, Middle East and Africa at Lufthansa Technik, said the country’s aviation sector had “exceptional potential”.
“The new agreement highlights our commitment to supporting the country’s dynamic aviation sector. We are proud to continue supporting flyadeal’s ambitious growth in the years to come,” he said.
