Flight Training Alliance (FTA), a collaboration between Lufthansa Aviation Training and CAE, along with an Airbus Authorised Training Provider, has inaugurated an Airbus A220 full-flight simulator (FFS) at the ITA Airways Flight Centre at Rome Fiumicino International Airport.

“For us, flight crew training is an essential element of our company’s growth and having a high-tech device like this simulator demonstrates that we are on the right path to delivering excellence,” said Gen. Francesco Presicce, Accountable Manager and Chief Technology Officer, ITA Airways. “We have taken another step in our partnership with FTA, building on the solid collaboration started with the training of our pilots.”

The simulator, a vital training tool for ITA Airways pilots, boasts high-fidelity visuals, an immersive cockpit environment, and realistic flight dynamics. The upgraded FFS is designed to replicate the Airbus A220 and is available for other FTA A220 customers to use.

“The deployment of the A220 simulator in Rome marks a significant milestone, further reinforcing our partnership with ITA Airways. By facilitating a training solution onsite, ITA Airways significantly increases cost-efficiency while we expand our training network with a very attractive training location,” said Susanne Kuehl, Chief Financial Officer of FTA.

“The simulator will play a key role in ensuring the highest levels of training for ITA Airways pilots, contributing to the safety and efficiency of their operations and the growing need of our airline customers in Europe,” said Jesus Martin-Sanchez, FTA’s Chief Operating Officer.
