FedEx Corp. has signed an additional contract with ATR for the acquisition of 10 72-600Fs, following a previous agreement of 30 aircraft, with deliveries expected from 2027 to 2029. The aircraft, with a 9.2-tonne payload, is replacing FedEx’s current fleet of legacy ATRs.

“FedEx’s decision to order additional ATR 72-600F underscores their trust in our aircraft’s performance and versatility,” said Alexis Vidal, Senior Vice-President Commercial of ATR. “Our freighter variant is an essential component of the ATR family, offering significant advantages over traditional passenger-to-freighter conversions, including enhanced reliability and availability and longer-term planning.”

The 72-600F is specially designed for cargo operations, featuring a bulk configuration for an increased volume of up to 75 m3 with nine vertical nets and attachment points on the floor and lateral tracks. The aircraft also features a large cargo door, a cargo loading system, and a wide cross section.
