easyJet, in partnership with Braathens Renavia, Mana Group and World Fuel Services (World Fuel), has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to supply the airline with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for its European and UK operations.

The MoU will grant easyJet an expected 150,000 tons of SAF from 2030, helping the airline to reach its sustainability ambitions. The SAF will be supplied by Braathens Renavia and Mana Group and is anticipated to be created using the gasification of biomass and solid waste and further enhanced with renewably generated hydrogen. This method should deliver carbon abatement exceeding 90%.

easyJet’s Director of Tax & Fuel Strategy, Raminder Shergill, said: “We are committed to supporting the growth of the SAF industry and delighted to have the opportunity to invest in e-SAF, which is expected to deliver as much as 90% lower emissions than conventional jet fuel, in support of our decarbonisation strategy.”

“This agreement represents a pivotal step forward for Braathens Renavia and Mana Group in our shared mission to accelerate the availability of sustainable aviation fuel at scale,” commented Per G. Braathen, founder of Braathens Renavia. “We are proud to work with partners like easyJet and World Fuel.”

World Fuel will manage the logistics, blending, storage, and regulatory fulfilment of the SAF for the EU and UK mandates, helping to enable smooth operations into easyJet’s supply chain.

“Our collaboration with easyJet and Braathens Renavia underscores our commitment to increasing access to sustainable aviation fuel in the aviation industry,” added Duncan Storey, World Fuel’s Senior Vice President (EMEA). “By managing logistics and regulatory compliance, we ensure the seamless integration of sustainable aviation fuel in the market, empower producers and connect sustainability-focused customers with innovative supply.”
