Following proposed strike action, Valero refuellers at East Midlands Airport have secured a two-year pay deal. The workers are members of Unite, a trade union in the UK.

The deal will see a 6.5% pay increase in year one for 10 refuellers, and a 3.5% increase in year two, alongside better overtime rates, higher holiday entitlements, paid training, and a non-consolidated lump sum increase.

“Workers will be celebrating this excellent deal, which proves why it pays to be a member of Unite,” said Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham. “Our mission to improve pay and conditions is once again putting more money in our members’ pockets.”

“After a year of fighting to improve members’ pay, we are delighted to have won them a great deal,” commented Katie Morris, Unite Regional Officer. “It is a clear example of why workers looking for decent wages and improvements to their working lives should join Unite today.”

LARA contacted Valero for comment but has not received a response.

Currently, East Midlands Airport operates a number of low-fare and regional airlines, including Aer Lingus, Aurigny, Blue Islands, Eastern Airways, Jet2, and Ryanair.
