Regional aircraft manufacturer Deutsche Aircraft has partnered with Weerts Group to construct the Final Assembly Line (FAL) for its D328eco aircraft at Leipzig/Halle Airport.

The new FAL will feature a 100% digital and paperless production environment with automated and driverless transport systems operating alongside automated parts and tool storage.

The production line will be specifically designed for the D328eco and will use energy-efficient battery-powered tools, and customers will be able to observe the aircraft assembly process.

The FAL is expected to be operational in late 2025, and the 60,500 square metre facility will also include a Flight Readiness Hangar, a Logistics Centre and an Administration Building.

With a production capacity of 48 D328eco aircraft per year, Deutsche Aircraft said it aims to meet the growing demand for regional aircraft.

Nico Neumann, COO of Deutsche Aircraft, said: “This partnership with Weerts Group signifies an important milestone in the industrialisation of the D328eco. This is testament to our dedication to the success of the D328eco programme.”
