De Havilland Canada have announced a new OEM certified refurbishment program for its fleet of Dash 8-400 aircraft.
Building on the success of its program to convert and upgrade CL-215 aircraft, DHC have announced a similar program for the Dash 8 fleet in an effort to “keep the fleet flying.”
It has been actively acquired aircraft in the marketplace, and upgrading them for delivery to customers looking to expand their fleets, or add Dash 8’s to their fleet for the first time.
The DHC program is one which De Havilland will acquire, upgrade, and remarket the aircarft for each specific customer’s needs. MRO work will take place at its facilities in Calgary, Alberta. To date, DHC has reportedly acquired 28 Dash 8-400 aircraft for the upgrade.
Other refurbishment offers include:
· Aircraft configuration to match the customer’s existing fleet
· Completion of overdue maintenance, integration of Airworthiness Directives, and Service Bulletin upgrades
· Airframe life extensions through our ESP (Extended Service Plan) to extend the lives of Dash 8-100/200/300 to 120,000 cycles, or the ESP+ which can take the Dash 8-100 to 160,000 cycles
· Freighter conversions, including the introduction of the new Dash 8-400 Large Cargo Door and Quick Change between cargo and passenger missions
· Avionics upgrades

As part of this refurbishment program, DHC will also offer operators the option to equip their aircraft with new Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A engines. The PW150A engines are a stalwart turboprop in the industry, and recently demonstrated up to 30% increased time on wing.
