Cirium, a global aviation analytics company, has introduced a new tool called Ground Events, which allows businesses to track and predict aircraft maintenance events, helping them understand how aircraft are being used and identify opportunities.

The product is designed to give MROs, OEMs, aircraft parts suppliers, and airlines the ability to generate analytics, including market share trends and turnaround times.

It predicts future scheduled C-checks, Heavy checks, strip/painting or retrofits based on historical data from 35,000 ground events labelled over the past 5+ years. The tool uses satellite flight tracking data and other information, such as fleet and MRO inspection interval data, to track and predict these events.

Users can customise searches by various criteria, including event type, date range, operator, MRO provider, location, aircraft registration, and engine type. Results are presented in an intuitive interface with tables and charts that can be further analysed by a number of events per airline, MRO, etc.

“We collaborated with key industry players, including a major European OEM, to develop this solution,” said Mehmet Erdogan, VP of Cirium Ascend. “Ground Events pinpoints the last maintenance check and predicts future events, enabling the industry to plan aircraft maintenance.”

Ground Events uses a database of 57,000 ground events dating back to 2018, combined with fleet maintenance intelligence and satellite-based flight tracking. A team of experts ensures data accuracy, with an average of 2,700 weekly updates.
