Avianor, a Canadian aerospace maintenance and interior solutions provider, has launched its new A220 Centre of Excellence at Montreal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX).

The CAD 70 million facility, first announced at the 2023 Paris Air Show, features a 105,000-square-foot hangar equipped with four dedicated Airbus A220 maintenance lines and “cutting-edge technology”.

“The A220 Centre of Excellence represents a decisive and transformative step for Avianor,” said Hugo Brouillard, Chief Operating Officer and President of Affiliates of DRAKKAR, Avianor’s parent company. “This facility exemplifies our commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.”

The hangar has SafeSpill fire protection technology, energy-efficient LED lighting, heat pumps for environmentally friendly climate control, mega doors to facilitate aircraft entry and exit and a dedicated paint shop and sandblasting room.

The A220 Centre of Excellence is expected to strengthen Quebec’s aerospace industry and attract international clients while creating over 100 specialised jobs and significantly increasing Avianor’s maintenance capacity.

“The inauguration marks a significant milestone for YMX,” said Yves Beauchamp, President and CEO of ADM Aéroports de Montréal. “Avianor is helping position our Aerocity as a key player in the industry.”

The project received CAD 9 million in funding from the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Energy (MEIE) and a CAD 7.6 million repayable contribution from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED).
