CAE has signed a long-term agreement with Indian low-fare carrier Akasa Air to provide Boeing 737MAX pilot training at CAE’s India facilities.

Akasa Air will leverage CAE’s training facilities, instructors, and latest-generation full-flight simulators for the next 15 years. CAE has trained Akasa Air pilots since the airline started operations in 2022 and has a long presence in India, operating 13 simulators in three commercial aviation training centres.

Vinay Dube, founder and CEO of Akasa Air, said, “We are pleased to further cement our partnership with CAE, one of the world’s leading pilot training technology providers.”

“In the fast-growing Indian aviation sector, CAE has the infrastructure and resources to support the expansion of airline partners, like Akasa Air, in the region,” said Nick Leontidis, CAE’s Group President, Civil Aviation Training Solutions.

Akasa Air is set to welcome 226 Boeing 737MAX aircraft into its fleet, following a firm order announcement for 150 737 MAX – MAX 10s and MAX8-200s – at WINGS India 2024. In January 2024, it welcomed two further 737 MAX8 aircraft, reaching a fleet size of 22 aircraft in just 17 months. It is expected to receive further deliveries of 204 737MAX aircraft over the course of eight years.
