BOC Aviation Limited has entered into an agreement with Airbus to purchase two A321neo and one A320neo aircraft. These aircraft are now committed on long-term leases to JetSMART Airlines, a South American low-fare carrier, and are scheduled for delivery in 2027.

“We are excited to celebrate our third transaction with JetSMART,” said Steven Townend, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, BOC Aviation. “These fuel-efficient A320NEO family aircraft will enable JetSMART to expand its footprint in the growing Latin America market. With this agreement, we have demonstrated our ability to provide our customers with financing solutions to support their fleet expansion ambitions at multiple points in their growth trajectory.”

In April, BOC Aviation placed a large order of 70 A320neo aircraft in addition to 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, which was met with mixed reviews.

“This new agreement with BOC Aviation is aligned with our long-term regional growth strategy, which envisions a fleet of 120 aircraft by 2031,” commented Estuardo Ortiz, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of JetSMART. “It also reinforces our commitment to operating a modern, fuel-efficient, and environmentally responsible fleet across South America. We are pleased to continue strengthening long-term partnerships with leading lessors like BOC Aviation, who share our vision and support us with key milestones of our expansion. The addition of these two A321NEO and one A320NEO aircraft brings us closer to our goal of carrying 100 million passengers by 2028.”

JetSMART received its first A321neo in 2022, which it leased from Aviation Capital Group. Now, the airline operates a fleet of 44 A320 and A321 aircraft.
