Blue Islands, the Channel Islands based regional airline is to commence a twice weekly service from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) to Guernsey for summer 2019.

The twice weekly service will commence in time for the peak summer season on 21 May until 14 September on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The flights will be operated on a 68-seat ATR 72-500 aircraft.

“As a Channel Islands based airline, Blue Islands is proud to launch a new direct service from Liverpool to Guernsey,” said Rob Veron, Blue Islands CEO, adding that the service will make it easier for passengers travelling from the North West to visit the Channel Island.

“Equally, the twice weekly service offers Guernsey residents the chance to visit Liverpool, an exciting city which is bursting with culture, history and also a World Heritage Site,” he added.

Operating an all ATR fleet, the carrier became a Flybe franchise partner in 2016, offering flights between the Channel Islands and the UK. The airline employs 100 people across its bases in Guernsey and Jersey.

Paul Winfield, director of aviation development for LJLA stated: “We’re delighted to see another new airline choose to operate from Liverpool and look forward to Blue Islands commencing flights to Guernsey from here.”
