Regional airline Binter has announced a significant fleet modernisation initiative, replacing four of its existing ATR 72-600 aircraft with new, more efficient models powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127XT engines.
ATR says the PW127XT is “the immediate solution to drastically cut down regional air travel’s emissions, whilst also reducing operating costs.”
The OEM claims the new engine offers significant reductions in operating costs with 40 per cent more time on wing for fewer maintenance events, 20 per cent reduction of direct maintenance costs and at least 3% block fuel savings. It is certified to fly with 50 per cent SAF.
Rodolfo Núñez, President of Binter, said: “The remarkable efficiency of the PW127XT engines, uniquely optimised for ATR’s turboprops, allows us to embrace new standards in fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, and operating costs, setting a benchmark for responsible aviation practices.”
Binter currently operates a fleet of 26 ATR 72-600s, carrying over 5 million passengers annually and operating approximately 210 daily flights across the Canary archipelago.
