US low-fare carrier Avelo Airlines has opened a new base of operations at Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut. The airline will initially operate two Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft from the airport, with plans to expand services in the future.
Avelo said its BDL base will create new jobs and economic opportunities in the region, adding that it is committed to providing an “affordable and convenient air service to the people of Connecticut”.
“Avelo is proud to be Connecticut’s airline,” said Andrew Levy, founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines. “Our customers tell us they love flying Avelo, and we’re excited to make flying Avelo even more convenient for travellers across the state.”
Avelo’s new service from BDL includes nonstop flights to Charlotte / Concord (USA), Wilmington (ILM), Daytona Beach (DAB), Orlando / Lakeland (LAL), Houston, Texas (HOU), Cancun, Mexico (CUN), and Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ).
This year, Avelo took delivery of four 737-800s from the bankrupt Brazilian airline GOS, with a fifth entering service this week. The carrier operates a total of eight 737-700s and 11 737-800s, all of which are from previous operators.
