Arajet, the Dominican Republic’s national carrier, has celebrated its third anniversary, using the occasion to confirm its strategic objective of establishing the country as a premier aviation hub for the Americas, connecting North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean via its Santo Domingo and Punta Cana bases.
Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and founder of Arajet, said that the airline anticipates exceeding 1.5 million passengers flown by the end of 2025, with over 200,000 of these being on connecting flights.
“We were born with a clear mission: to democratise the skies of the Americas so that more people can travel more often and be better connected, with a simple, safe, and punctual experience,” said Méndez. “Three years later, we continue to expand our network, strengthening the connectivity of the Dominican Republic and consolidating a competitive hub model for the Americas.”
The airline intends to focus its efforts on increasing frequencies on routes with high seasonal demand, expanding the network of connections to improve total travel times between key markets, and continuing responsible expansion with operational efficiency and consistent service.
Among the new routes planned, flights to Orlando, Chicago, and Boston in the United States will begin between October and November, and flights to Córdoba in Argentina will start in December.
Méndez pointed out that the company currently has more than 700 direct employees, of whom more than 50% in management positions are women.
They continue to invest in the training of Dominican pilots and technicians, as well as supporting sports, cultural, and culinary initiatives that promote the Dominican Republic as the destination par excellence on the continent.
