AJW Group has finalised a new long-term Power-by-the-Hour (PBH) component support agreement with Air Astana Group, servicing the airline’s rapidly expanding Airbus A320-family fleet.

The contract initially provides coverage for 56 aircraft across both Air Astana and its low-fare subsidiary, FlyArystan. This comprehensive package addresses all variants, ranging from the classic A320ceo models to the latest high-efficiency A321neo, LR, and XLR.

AJW has maintained a consistent presence in Air Astana’s operational sphere since 2006, commencing with maintenance support for the airline’s Boeing 757 fleet. While AJW previously managed the Airbus fleet until 2019, this new agreement signifies a strategic recommencement of involvement with the airline’s narrowbody operations, coinciding with Air Astana’s forthcoming period of ambitious expansion.

The relationship extends beyond the acquisition of the new Airbus fleet. The two companies recently extended their Boeing 767 support contract by an additional two years, which demonstrates a level of confidence that transcends a singular aircraft type.

To facilitate this operation, AJW is deploying significant resources. Component repairs will be managed by their premier AJW Technique facility in Montreal, while a newly established hub in Amsterdam will function as the central staging location for European parts, ensuring that aircraft “ground time” is kept to a minimum.

“Our relationship with Air Astana spans two decades,” said Christopher Whiteside, Chairman of AJW Group. “With their fleet becoming increasingly sophisticated, we’re ready to provide the kind of cost-effective, reliable support they need for this next chapter.”

Air Astana’s CEO, Peter Foster, said: “As we scale up our fleet with next-generation aircraft, this agreement gives us the operational confidence to know our component support is handled.”
