“With our expanded fleet Airlink can better serve the needs of the increased number of business and leisure customers who fly with us on the route,” said de Villiers Engelbrecht, Airlink’s CEO. “Ndola is Zambia’s third-largest city and capital of the Copper Belt. It is also rapidly expanding as a major industrial, transport and logistics node for mining, manufacturing and trade in the sub-region. Our expanded service enables customers to connect at our O.R. Tambo International Airport hub with our other domestic and regional services as well as long-haul flights provided by our global airline partners.”
The airline has also launched a new route between Johannesburg and Nacala, Mozambique, which will operate twice-weekly, becoming Airlink’s seventh destination in the country. The route is optimised for trade, tourism, and economic activity in Northern Mozambique and Malawi.
“Having Airlink connect Nacala with the rest of the world will incentivise travel to and from this important commercial hub and stimulate a surge in trade, tourism and investments that will unlock our region’s full potential,” commented Eduardo Mariamo Abdula, Governor of Nampula Province. “This will improve the socio-economic landscape of northern Mozambique.”
