Airbus has revealed new interior features for the A330neo, in a first full-size mockup at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX).
The interior design now features a new Hero Light and Welcome Panel, new linings for the interior sidewall, ceiling and door frame panels, and electro-dimmable windows (EDWs).
Airbus confirmed that each of these new features will be available for customers from 2027. Combined, the elements will contribute to a weight saving of 100 kg throughout the aircraft whilst elevating the overall passenger experience.
Business class: Welcome panel and Hero Light
The Airspace Hero Light will be brought in as a premium option for the A330neo, used in the business class section where no middle set of overhead bins will be attached. Customisable in 16 million colours, it offers airlines key differentiation opportunities in their cabins.
The Welcome Panel, featuring the Airspace stencil pattern, will be standard across all new A330neos delivered from Q1 2026.
“With the Hero Light, airlines can really express their brand,” Anais Marzo, Airbus’s Head of Aircraft Interiors Marketing, told LARA. “It not only gives them a much nicer impression of space but gives airlines even more opportunities to customise.”
Windows, sidewall, ceiling and door frame
Airbus said the new A330neo sidewall will have design language “consistent with the A350 and A320 families’ Airspace cabins”. They will offer 5 mm extra shoulder clearance and 50 mm more foot space. The new sidewall and panels solution would save 85 kg throughout the aircraft, according to estimates from Airbus’s engineering teams, whilst the new matching ceiling panels contribute to an additional 10kg weight saving.
The new door-framing design simplifies installation and replacement of a number of parts whilst allowing for an extra 5 kg weight saving. The new electro-dimmable window options currently offered on the A350 can easily clip in on the A330neo’s new sidewall panel.
