Air India has further strengthened its presence in Northern Europe by launching a new unilateral codeshare agreement with airBaltic

The partnership marks a major step up from the interline agreement established between the two airlines in June 2025. By placing its “AI” designator code on airBaltic-operated flights, Air India now offers passengers the ability to reach the Latvian capital of Riga via a single booking.

Under the new arrangement, Air India customers can connect to Riga through several major European hubs where Air India already operates non-stop services

Beyond Riga, the existing interline partnership continues to provide travellers with access to Tallinn (Estonia) and Vilnius (Lithuania), ensuring comprehensive coverage of all three Baltic states.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, highlighted the strategic importance of the region, saying that Latvia and the surrounding areas are “growing travel markets”.

“This expanded partnership reflects Air India’s commitment to providing seamless global connectivity,” he said. “Getting there for our customers was previously not as convenient as it now becomes with airBaltic on board with us.”
