Regional aircraft manufacturer ATR has announced its 1,700th aircraft delivery, an ATR 72-600, since the beginning of its programme with Air Corsica.

The aircraft marks the completion of Air Corsica’s transition from a fleet of ATR-500 series to the latest generation of turboprop aircraft. The airline was the first operator to receive an ATR 72-600 equipped with the PW127XT engine in November 2022. Compared to the previous PW127M engine, the aircraft saw at least a 3% reduction in fuel consumption and a 20% reduction in maintenance costs, with a CO2 saving of 45% in contrast to similar-sized regional jets. Air Corsica now operates seven ATR 72-600 aircraft.

“Completing our fleet renewal with the ATR 72-600 is a pivotal moment for Air Corsica, reflecting our commitment to providing the best possible service to our passengers and supporting the economic vitality of our island,” said Marie-Hélène Casanova-Servas, President of Air Corsica’s Supervisory Board. “This latest-generation aircraft enhances our operational efficiency and significantly reduces our environmental impact, aligning perfectly with our vision of a more sustainable future for air travel in Corsica. By investing in this modern fleet, we are ensuring that our island remains well-connected, fostering growth and opportunity for our communities.”

ATR has delivered numerous aircraft to operators recently, with Air Serbia completing its regional fleet renewal to ATR 72-600s in June and the delivery of two ATR 72-600s to airHaifa in July.
