Air Charter Scotland has launched a new service of six weekly return flights between Wick John O’Groats and Aberdeen.

The inaugural flight on January 14 marked the return of the Public Service Obligation (PSO) route and is seen as vital for the region’s economic growth and community sustainability.

The route marks a significant strategic pivot for the business jet company as it expands into regular scheduled services. The service will initially be operated by a  Beechcraft King Air 200 business turboprop from UK operator DragonFly.

A larger Jetstream J32, wet-leased from AIS Airlines from the Netherlands, will take over from March 1 when Home Office/Border Force rules allow EU operators to fly for UK airlines.

Air Charter Scotland is working to add the J32 to its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC) as it transitions toward A Class operator status.

“The Beechcraft King Air is a valued pathfinder to bigger aircraft into the summer,” said Derek Thomson, CCO, signalling the company’s long-term commitment to the Highland region.
