ACIA Aero Leasing, a provider of regional aircraft leasing and management services, has announced a deal with Pratt & Whitney Canada for the supply of 10 new PW127M turboprop engines.

With deliveries scheduled to start in 2025, ACIA said the strategic move will allow it to better serve its growing customer base by replacing existing engines in its pre-owned ATR aircraft.

“This investment reflects our commitment to providing customers with access to the most desirable pre-owned ATR aircraft available,” said Neil Du Preez, Senior Vice-President of Technical and Asset Management at ACIA Aero Leasing. “By securing this critical PW100 engine inventory, we are proactively addressing potential supply chain challenges and ensuring our customers have the reliable resources they need to operate efficiently.”

He added, “Our customers rely on us to deliver top-tier pre-owned ATR aircraft. The addition of these new engines reinforces our dedication to providing best-in-class, competitive assets and maintaining our strong position in the regional aviation sector.”

The PW100 engine family, now celebrating its 40th anniversary, powers 90% of regional turboprop aircraft in the 30-70 passenger category, according to Pratt & Whitney.

Irene Makris, Vice President of Customer Service at Pratt & Whitney Canada, emphasised the environmental advantages of the PW100 engine. “These engines consume 40% less fuel and produce significantly lower CO2 emissions compared to similar-sized regional jets,” she said. “This translates to both cost savings for operators and a reduced environmental footprint for the aviation industry.”
